Cole County Fair carnival rides pass spot inspections

The Jefferson City Jaycees Cole County Fair continued Tuesday with all amusement rides passing safety inspections, according to reports from the Missouri Department of Public Safety.

The department conducted safety spot inspections Monday to check out rides provided by the two carnival ride companies, PBJ Happee Days Show and Sonshine AMS, that set up at the fair this year.

The rides will undergo operational inspections throughout the week, said state Public Safety Manager Gus Guadamuz . Officials check whether the ride operators are watching the rides properly and following rider height requirements .

Guadamuz said the rides must pass several levels of inspections.

Annual inspections allow the rides to get a permit to operate in Missouri and are typically performed before the rides arrive, he said.

The fair runs through Saturday.
