Child molestation charges filed after Moberly police investigation

Randolph County prosecutors have charged a man with child molestation and two other people with child endangerment and drug possession after a Moberly police investigation.

Officers arrested Steven Sartain, 56, Michael Harper, 39, and Charity Harper, 35, Monday morning while serving a search warrant near Kehoe Avenue and Kennedy Drive in Moberly, according to a Moberly Police Department news release.

Prosecutors charged Sartain with two counts of molesting a child under age 14; and Michael Harper and Charity Harper each with two counts of child endangerment involving drugs, methamphetamine possession and maintaining a public nuisance.

Police did not release other details. Available court documents say officers searched a home where Sartain and the Harpers lived on Kehoe Avenue and found drugs and paraphernalia. Documents did not detail the allegations against Sartain.

Michael and Charity Harper were each jailed on a $10,000 cash-only bond. Sartain was jailed on a $40,000 cash-only bond.
