Two injured in Columbia shooting

Two people were hurt in a shooting near Stephens Lake Park on Tuesday, Columbia police said.

Police were called to Anita Court north of the park and blocked part of nearby Walnut Street during the investigation. Columbia Police Department spokesman Jeff Pitts said police were sent to the scene at about 11 a.m. Tuesday on a call of multiple shots fired.

First responders found two people injured, including one in a shed, Pitts said. The injured people were communicating with officers when they were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Pitts said.

Police did not immediately provide details about the incident but radio traffic indicated police and firefighters were responding to a shooting call.
