Authorities increase security at courthouse after tip

Authorities said they increased security at the Audrain County Courthouse after someone called the joint communications Tuesday morning.

The caller was an anonymous citizen according to the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said they had information a shooting would happen at the courthouse. The Sheriff’s Office told ABC 17 News the report was along the lines of “hear something, say something,” with no specifics.

Authorities took precautions and deputies, along with the Mexico Department of Public Safety and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, responded to the courthouse and conducted security operations. The court remained in session without incident.

After an investigation, the sheriff’s office said no criminal offenses were found.
