Residents drive through water at Glasgow bridge
Barriers are no longer blocking the bridge separating Glasgow from Saline County, even though the MoDOT traveler map still lists the road as closed.
MoDOT said it is not sure why the barriers are no longer up, but residents said the barriers have been down for a few days.
According to people who live in the area, they have seen workers with the Missouri Department of Transportation have been through the area, but have not put barriers back up.
Tammy Littrell lives on the Saline County side of the bridge. She said it typically takes 15 to 20 minutes to drive across the bridge to work in Glasgow because flooding had caused the bridge to be closed, she said it has taken her closer to an hour and 15 minutes.
“We don’t know what’s going to happen,” Littrell said of the floodwaters.
She said she is concerned about the water going back up.
But as of Monday, many residents are still driving over water. Because the barriers have not been put back in front of the bridge, several residents have driven through the road to get home or get to work.
Littrell said local law enforcement officers have not been ticketing those people. She said that is probably because the water has been only a few inches deep on the road.

“I just have to take it day by day as to whether or not I’m going to get through or what I’m not going to do,” she said.
