Tracking the potential for strong thunderstorms this evening

TONIGHT: We’re continuing to track a slow moving cold front this evening. This will interact with warm, humid air in place across the region allowing for thunderstorms to start to fire off in our northern counties after 9pm this evening. These storms will slowly slide south overnight bringing with them a chance for strong, gusty winds and hail. Storms will slowly move out through Sunday morning.

SUNDAY: Most of region will begin to clear out through the mid-Morning hours– Keep the umbrella handy, especially south of I-70 if you headed out earlier for church services. Much like today will clear out into the early afternoon hours, but more storms look likely to fire around 5 & 6 tomorrow evening. Those storms will likely stay below severe limits.

EXTENDED: As has been advertised, several waves of rain and thunderstorms will continue to track through Mid-Missouri this week. There will be dry time in between, we won’t see a total washout over the next 7 days, but when the rain falls, it will likely fall pretty heavily with area-wide amounts totaling 1-4 ” of rain over the next 5 days. More than that could fall in places that see more consistent thunderstorm activity this week.
