Otterville council agrees to pay for audit

The Otterville City Council approved water rate increases at its meeting Wednesday night. However, the rate increases will not go into effect until a citizen-requested audit of the city is started.

The city agreed to pay for the audit with money collected from the water rate increase. The $6 monthly charge will remain until the audit cost is paid, according to the ordinance approved by the city council.

The city estimates the audit will cost $20,000 to $45,000.
