One last dry day expected before a wet week moves in
MONDAY: It looks like we’ll remain dry for most of the day today, but there is an outside shot that showers and storms push into some of our western counties later this afternoon, but with a fairly dry atmosphere in place, that seems unlikely but things will begin to change. It will be another pleasant feeling day, with highs topping out near 80.
TONIGHT: Winds will turn out of a more southeasterly direction today, to which the effect of more moisture moving in won’t be realized until tonight. Showers and storms will move in closer toward midnight and look to stick around for the morning with lows in the low to mid 60s .
EXTENDED: Depending on how this overnight round of showers and storms evolves into the morning, we could be looking at a severe risk by the afternoon, as the atmosphere attempts to destabilize once again. Damaging wind looks to be the primary threat if this situation were to unfold. The rest of this week will have to be watched very closely. We’re going to see two main features that will impact our weather throughout the week–one will be a slow-moving trough from the west that will bring rain and storms late Monday through Thursday and a tropical system developing in the Gulf of Mexico. That tropical system looks like it will interact with the trough and produce heavy rainfall by Friday into next weekend. 2-3″ of rain will be possible, with localized heavy amounts if we mix in thunderstorm potentials. Take warnings from officials seriously. Flooding conditions will not be improving this week.
