A quiet afternoon, but more storms on the horizon
MEMORIAL DAY: A stout line of thunderstorms is rolling through, out west, but should lose intensity over the next few hours and lift just to our north. We could see some showers or storms go up in the wake of this system later this morning into the viewing area, but they should be quick to move out by this afternoon with sunshine making a return to close out the extended weekend. Afternoon highs make it into the middle to upper 80s .
TONIGHT: We hang on to mostly clear skies overnight as temperatures attempt to cool off, but only reach the upper 60s with winds out of the south.
EXTENDED: A more significant chance for storms enters the forecast Tuesday, but will hold off until the afternoon and evening. Storms will fire out west and move in, but in doing so will grow into a line. These could pack a damaging wind and large hail punch, and we cannot rule out tornadoes again. We’ll be tracking the latest data closely on this over the next day. Another system moves in Wednesday, keeping showers and storms around for consecutive days, but may ultimately calm things down to close out the week with highs on Thursday only in the middle 70s . Be sure to check back with ABC 17 on-air and online for the latest forecast.
