Levee east of Keytesville breaches

Within the last few hours, Chariton County emergency officials have announced that the levee east of Keytesville has breached.

According to a Facebook post by Chariton County E-911, Highway 24 just east of the Chariton River will shut down in approximately 10 to 12 hours.

The department told ABC 17 News in a Facebook message that water is expected to go over Highway 24 about an eighth of a mile east of the intersection at Highway 24 and Route KK.

The MoDOT traveler map shows that Highway 24 west of Brunswick has been shut down since Thursday. Brunswick is located next to the Grand River, which also connects to the Missouri River.
