Home near Camdenton destroyed in fire

A home west of Camdenton was destroyed in a fire over the weekend.

The Mid-County Fire Protection District said it received reports of the fire around 6:45 a.m. Sunday.

No one was at home when the fire started.

The entire two-story home on Sugar Loaf Drive, off of Sunny Slope Road, was on fire when firefighters arrived.

Chief Scott Fransden said water was relayed via a hose from Sunny Slope Road where tankers dumped water into holding tanks.

More than 20,000 gallons of water was brought in from fire hydrants in Camdenton.

A firefighter was treated at the scene by EMS crews for heat exhaustion. The firefighter wasn’t taken to a hospital.

The home is considered a total loss.

Fransden said the cause of the fire is unknown due to the amount of damage.
