Two face drug charges after Moniteau County stop

Two people from Sedalia face drug charges after a traffic stop in Moniteau County.

Moniteau County deputies arrested Steven Bartlett, 42, and Shannon Demshick, 48, on Highway 50 near Tipton on Friday, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

A deputy said he found Barlett in the back seat with his hands covered by a blanket. Bartlett and Demshick refused to leave the vehicle when deputies asked them, according to the release.

Deputies ordered them out at gunpoint and found a large knife on Barlett and marijuana and methamphetamine in the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

Bartlett also has an outstanding felony warrant from Johnson County for drug possession. Bartlett and Demshick were each jailed on $25,000 bond.
