Lack of rain this morning reducing flooding threat, Wednesday storms looking less menacing
THIS AFTERNOON: Lack of rainfall this morning has been like a domino effect, it will help any more rainfall down the line be less impactful– while there’s still an elevated flooding risk, not getting that rainfall earlier today will be key in an improving travel scheme across Mid-MO. We’re continuing to hold onto the clouds across Mid-Missouri this afternoon. That will help inhibit warmer and keep severe storm chances low into the evening. Highs make it into the upper 60s.
TONIGHT: Scattered storms will lift along and north of I-70 tonight with ongoing rain and storms possible again for the morning commute. Overnight lows only dip into the low to mid 60s tonight with winds out of the east up to 7 mph.
EXTENDED: Heavy rain that continues Tuesday night into Wednesday morning continues the flood risk. Depending on how long clouds and morning rain sticks around, we could have another round of strong to strong storms by Wednesday afternoon, but the severe threat looks to be diminishing. We’ll be on the look out for hail, gusty winds and heavy rain. Rain moves out Thursday morning, and we begin to dry out by the weekend.
