Few mid-Missouri students not fully immunized
A low percentage of students in mid-Missouri aren’t fully immunized.
About 184 students attending Columbia Public Schools and 86 students attending Jefferson City Public Schools aren’t fully vaccinated, according to data from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and 2018-19 kindergarten through 12th grade enrollment data from the districts.
Whether children have been vaccinated has become a nationwide issue in the midst of a record measles outbreak. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported 764 confirmed measles cases in 23 states.
The nationwide total is the highest number of cases in the United States since the disease was eliminated, according to the CDC.
The following tables show the rates of fully immunized kindergarten through 12th grade students attending school districts in Cole, Boone and Callaway County for the 2018-19 school year, according to the Missouri DHSS.

More than 99 percent of students are fully immunized in Hallsville, Cole Co. R-I and South Callaway, according to state health authorities.
The data shows 96.9 percent of students who attend New Bloomfield Public Schools are fully immunized, the highest rate among public school districts in Cole, Callaway and Boone counties.
Parents in Missouri can choose to not vaccinate their children for religious reasons, but numbers seem to show few in mid-Missouri forgo vaccination. Records show 98.4 percent of CPS students and 98.8 percent of JCPS students are fully vaccinated.
The state said Tuesday that one measles case has been confirmed in Missouri so far this year. The case was in Jefferson County, which is located southwest of St. Louis.
