Charge filed following discovery of Morgan County marijuana grow operation

The Morgan County prosecutor has filed a charge after deputies discovered a marijuana grow operation earlier this year.

Jason L. Draffen, 32, of Versailles, was arrested March 14 at a home in the 400 block of West Dekalb Street in Versailles.

According to court documents obtained by ABC 17 News, deputies found nearly 100 marijuana plants, marijuana seeds and processed marijuana plants in the home.

Deputies said Draffen told them he gave away the marijuana for free and hoped to make his marijuana grow a legal operation following the legalization of medical marijuana in Missouri.

Draffen is charged with a felony count of manufacturing a controlled substance.

A court hearing for Draffen is scheduled at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
