ORIGINAL: Police spent several hours at a northeast Columbia duplex after shots were fired Friday morning on Dawn Ridge Road.
Officers went to the scene on a called of shots heard at about 10 a.m. and were there until about 1:30 p.m. About a dozen units were sent to the address initially.
Police confirmed they have arrested two people in relation to the shooting. Police have not said if any charges will be requested.
Police had at least four people in custody this morning. Officers released two women when they left the scene.
Police at the scene said shots had been fired but no one was injured.
The Columbia Police Department’s crime scene investigation van arrived after officers had been at the duplex for about an hour.
Richard Henderson, a neighbor whose wife heard shots being fired, said his wifecalled him and then called the police.
“I was at work today and my wife called me kind of hysterical saying she heard some gunshots, and she saw a vehicle come up to the neighbor’s house and leave,” he said. “I just told her stay in the house, lock the doors, don’t get involved.”
Henderson said he has lived in the neighborhood since October 2013. “When I moved in, it was a nice quiet street, that’s why I liked it,” he said.
“It seems like everyone that owns property here are good people, but the duplexes that the rent people too, you just don’t know,” Henderson said. However, he said he still feels safe living there.
