Holts Summit approves special election in Ward 2 alderman’s race
City leaders in Holts Summit have approved a special election in its Ward 2 alderman’s race.
A spokeswoman for the city confirmed Friday afternoon the Board of Alderman gave approval to the special election Thursday night.
Candidates Lisa Buhr and Chris Redel tied with 35 votes each in this month’s election.
Buhr declined to do a coin-flip to chose the winner at a meeting April 9.
ABC 17 News is told the special election will cost Holts Summit $1,200 to $1,500. The special election could cost the city after construction made its Ward 2 polling center unavailable.
Holts Summit will cover the cost of the election with money from miscellaneous funds.
The Callaway County Clerk’s office will notify people living in Ward 2 once a new polling station is chosen.
The special election is scheduled to take place June 18.
