Former Mizzou QB Drew Lock drafted in second round
The long wait is over. Former Mizzou quarterback Drew Lock is headed to Denver. The Broncos selected the Lee’s Summit native in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Lock was the 42nd overall pick.
Drew Lock spoke to media Friday night after being drafted:
Surprisingly, Lock was not selected in the first round on Thursday night. Meanwhile, three other quarterbacks were taken on night one: Kyler Murray (No. 1 to Arizona), Daniel Jones (No. 6 to New York) and Dwayne Haskins (No. 15 to Washington).
Lock will likely back up Super Bowl champion QB Joe Flacco next season.
Lock finished his Mizzou career with 12,193 passing yards and 99 touchdowns – both are second in program history behind Chase Daniel. In 2017, Lock threw an SEC record 44 touchdown passes.
