Columbia man accused of threatening people with a gun

A Columbia man was arrested and booked in jail on Wednesday after police said he threatened people with a gun earlier in the week.

Officers responded to the 1800 block of McKee Street on Sunday in response to someone threatening people with a gun. A victim told police that Courtney L. Lawhorn came outside of the home where they were having a meal with family and began yelling, said Columbia Police Department spokesman Jeff Pitts. The victim was reportedly in an intimate relationship with Lawhorn.

The victim told police Lawhorn tackled them to the ground. Another victim said Lawhorn was waving a gun around and put a round into the chamber of the gun, then pointed it at the victim.

Officers were able to find where Lawhorn allegedly hid the gun in the area.

Lawhorn was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault, first-degree harassment, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm. He’s being held in the Boone County Jail on a $29,500 bond.
