Gov. Parson talks Missouri River flooding
Governor Parson is set to meet Friday in Council Bluffs, Iowa, with his fellow governors of Iowa and Nebraska to talk about Missouri River flooding concerns.
The governor said the meeting will highlight the ongoing flood recovery efforts and Missouri River management issues with the Army Corps of Engineers.
Governor Parson said Missouri has been through enough and should clearly understand the flooding problems and have answers. Parson said people refer to the 1993 Flood as the “100-Year Flood.”
Parson said, “But since (1993) we’ve had 2011, 2015 and now here we are in 2019. So, the reality of it is something has changed in the pattern of the way we manage the river.”
Parson is also calling for more oversight of the Corps of Engineers.
