Two suspects in custody after Jefferson City chases
The Jefferson City Police Department took two people into custody on Thursday after they led officers on two separate chases.
In the first incident, officers responded to Schnuck’s in report of a woman who had tried to shoplift and was arguing with an employee at 6:50 p.m.. The suspect then left the scene in a gold vehicle, according to a press release sent by JCPD.
Officers found Molly Seymour, 32, in the described vehicle on St. Mary’s Street and attempted to pull her over after she allegedly side-swiped a car. Seymour led police on a brief chase and eventually pulled over in the 800 block of Missouri Boulevard. She was arrested on suspicion of theft, resisting arrest and fleeing the scene of a crash.
Then, later that evening, officers saw a known wanted person Damien Rotter, 23, driving on Myrtle Avenue and Edmonds Street, the release said. Rotter allegedly did not pull over for police and led them on a chase that ended when Rotter’s vehicle hit a curb. Rotter then got out of the car and tried to run from police, according to the release.
A K-9 unit was able to catch Rotter. Rotter was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and possession of controlled substances. Rotter had also allegedly been involved in a burglary earlier on Thursday.
