Columbia outage affects roughly 1,500
Columbia Water and Light confirms power has been restored to all customers in Columbia after several outages left hundreds without electrical service Friday. The city says winds knocked a large tree onto distribution lines, causing the hours-long outages.

Friday evening there were as many as eight outages affecting at least 1,300 customers. Several of the outages happened near 8 p.m. Friday, less than 15 minutes after Columbia Water & Light tweeted it had restored power to 400 customers in the southwestern portion of the city.

Columbia Water & Light says high winds caused the earlier outage on Friday that left at least 1,537 customers without power in southwest Columbia.

The Columbia Outage Map says the earlier outage apparently started at 5:24 p.m. on Friday. At the time, the map also showed a second outage, affecting two customers.
