Prosecutor dismisses murder charge against undocumented immigrant following death
The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office has dismissed the charges it filed against Pablo Serrano-Vitorino.
Serrano was found unresponsive inside his jail cell at the St. Louis Justice Center on the morning of April 9.
According to the St. Louis Medical Examiner’s Office, Serrano was pronounced dead at St. Louis University Hospital at 3 a.m.
Serrano was charged in Montgomery County with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary and armed criminal action in the shooting death of Randy Nordman.
Investigators accused Serrano of killing Nordman at a home near New Florence in March 2016 after running from law enforcement officers in the Kansas City area.
Serrano was also charged in Kansas in the shooting deaths of four other people.
Prosecutors in Missouri had sought the death penalty against Serrano.
