Principal recommended for new middle school in south Columbia
A principal of the new middle school in south Columbia has been recommended to the Columbia Board of Education.
Jimmy Hale is expected to transition into the role this summer while preparing to open the new school in 2020.
Hale has been the assistant principal at Jefferson Middle School since 2013.
A spokeswoman said he worked for the Knob Noster School District in Knob Noster, Missouri before joining the Columbia Public School District.
Hale was also the assistant principal at Waynesville High School in Waynesville, Missouri for 10 years.
“We’re excited to have Mr. Hale transition into the leadership role for our new middle school. There is a lot of preparation and planning that goes in to the opening of a new school and Mr. Hale will be a wonderful addition to that process and an outstanding leader for our new school,” said Superintendent Peter Stiepleman.
Hale got his first job in the education field with Springfield Public Schools in 1994.
He holds an undergraduate degree in physical education and health from Missouri State.
Hale also has a master’s degree and a specialist degree in educational administration from Lindenwood University.
