Warm and quiet to start the week, Strong storm chance by Wednesday evening
THIS AFTERNOON: After a cold start to the day, we’ve been quick to jump into the 60s across Mid-Missouri. We’ll hold on to lots of sunshine today. Winds will be gusty out of the southeast up to 20mph at times.
TONIGHT: Skies remain clear overnight. Expect temps to bottom out in the mid 50s out the door Tuesday.
EXTENDED: We’re near 80 Tuesday and Wednesday before our next chance of showers and thunderstorms moves in. Sunshine hangs around Tuesday as clouds build on Wednesday. Another strong area of low pressure will move across the Midwest, cooling us down to end the week. As storms increase ahead of the cold front late Wednesday, storms may become strong to severe. The threat includes all modes of severe weather, but large hail looks to be the primary risk. Localized damaging winds and an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out. Behind this, showers and t-storms may linger into Thursday as temperatures dip back into the 60s and eventually the 50s by Friday. Overall, the weekend looks dry with mild temperatures.
