Snow showers continue through early afternoon

SUNDAY: Rain is falling this morning and will continue to do so until we get closer toward midday. However, as temperatures cool off, we are tracking a changeover to some wet snow later this morning. Roads will be okay, as ground temperatures are warm enough to hold off what could be moderate snowfall rates with some good-sized flakes. But that’s not to say we couldn’t get some light accumulations on grassy, elevated surfaces. Unfortunately, the timing of this system brings this changeover during a heavier travel period in Mid-Missouri, so build in extra time if you need to be out on the roadways this morning. This will clear out of the area by this afternoon as temperatures reach near 50, with a chance of seeing some sunshine to close out the day certainly possible.

TONIGHT: Skies will continue to clear, setting up another chilly night. Temperatures will reach into the middle 30s overnight, with widespread frost expected to develop, so any sensitive vegetation should be brought inside or covered up tonight.

EXTENDED: Gorgeous weather returns quickly leading off the work week, with temperatures pushing into the low 70s Monday with abundant sunshine. You’ll notice clouds increasing heading throughout Tuesday but it will be hard to complain about the middle to upper 70s. Our next chance of showers and thunderstorms moves in Wednesday, as another strong area of low pressure moves through the Midwest, cooling us down to end the week.
