33 pounds of marijuana found during traffic stop on I-70

A Florida man was arrested and charged with delivery of a controlled substance after troopers found 33 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle.

Marcos Espinal, 26, was pulled over on Interstate 70 in Cooper County by a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper on April 1 for following too closely to a truck. The trooper could smell marijuana and saw remnants of marijuana on Espinal’s shirt, according to a probable cause statement.

After searching the vehicle, the trooper found 33 pounds of marijuana and other drug items. Espinal also had a suspended Florida licence, court documents said.

Espinal was being held on a $40,000 bond.
