Two in custody after multi-county pursuit

UPDATE 4/11: Darrion D. Lowery, 18, was charged with resisting arrest, failure to stop at a stop sign and driving without a license.

ORIGINAL: Two suspects were booked into the Miller County Jail after a chase Tuesday that spanned multiple counties.

A spokesperson for the Jefferson City Police Department issued a press release Wednesday saying officers tried to stop a vehicle in the 800 block of Monroe Street.

According to the report, a suspect gave a false identification to the officers and later sped away from the scene.

Police identified the driver as the same suspect in a Tuesday theft from a Missouri Boulevard pawn shop and another in Holts Summit just hours before the traffic stop, police said.

Officers chased the car on Highway 54 toward the Lake of the Ozarks.

The Miller County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were also involved in the pursuit, which ended when troopers used spike strips to cripple the suspect’s vehicle.

“The passenger was apprehended after a short foot pursuit,” said JCPD’s spokesperson. “The driver was taken into custody after breaking into an occupied Miller County home.”

The identities of the two suspects were not immediately released, pending filing of charges.
