No one injured in Boone County duplex fire

Boone County Fire Protection District crews battled a fire at a duplex in the 300 block of Catherine Drive in south Columbia on Tuesday morning.

The district tweeted that the first crews found heavy fire and smoke coming from the home.

District Assistant Chief Gale Blomenkamp said the call came in as a kitchen fire at about 8:35 a.m. and the dispatcher could hear the fire in the background.

Both duplex units were evacuated and no one was injured, he said.
