Parts of Mid-Mo make a run for 80 on Sunday, Keeping a close eye on evening storm chances
SUNDAY: We’re starting off Sunday mild across the area. Temperatures out the door this morning will be in the upper 50s and low 60s. No jackets needed this morning and temperatures will quickly shoot up into the 70s through the late morning and early afternoon, with many spots in southern Mid-Missouri near 80 degrees by 3pm. There’s plenty of warm, moist air in place which provides a couple of the key ingredients for thunderstorm formation. We’re still lacking the well-defined cold front. It won’t take much to get storms going today but we’re walking a fine line between seeing very little at all and 3 or 4 storms that go severe. This severe threat looks to be focused along HWY 54 and points to the east and southeast. If storms fire, we’d need to be on guard between 4-8 pm. Large hail and strong wind gusts are the main culprits with this storm chance.
TONIGHT: We’ll be a bit cooler overnight as temperatures drop into the low 50s with any rain and storms out of the viewing area before midnight. Skies clearing overnight.
EXTENDED: The work week will start out on a great note across Mid-MO. We’ll see temps in the low to mid 70s with a generous helping of sunshine. This will last into Wednesday before clouds build back in, along with rain and storm chances Thursday and much cooler weather to close out the week.
