Off to a foggy start this morning

FRIDAY: We’re already seeing reduced visibility around some areas of Mid-Missouri waking up this morning. Low clouds could make it difficult to mix out this fog and drizzle but we should see an improvement in conditions around 9. Temperatures this afternoon will make it into the low to middle 60s, with sunshine attempting to make a return this afternoon and evening.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy skies will stick around overnight, with winds turning back out of a more southeasterly direction and picking up to 15 mph. Temperatures will bottom out in the upper 40s for overnight lows, so you will want that light jacket if you’re headed outside tonight.

EXTENDED: You can leave the jacket at home by Saturday afternoon as temperatures return to the low 70s, with a few peeks of sunshine throughout the day. Our next chance of rain looks like it will hold off until late Saturday, as an upper-level disturbance swings through. Rain chances will increase late Saturday night into Sunday morning. We will likely see a break in the action Sunday before seeing some redevelopment into the afternoon. There is a chance that we see some strong to severe storms this weekend, with enough instability developing. The better chance looks like it could be Sunday, but there are some timing questions. With a messy, complex forecast, models are struggling on things like timing and placement of some key features, so this forecast is likely to change over the coming hours. Ultimately, what unfolds Sunday depends on what happens Saturday. A cold front finally clears the area Sunday night, effectively ending our rain chances. Monday and Tuesday look spectacular with temperatures staying in the low 70s and sunshine returning.
