Columbia man accused of breaking into home, driving away with children

A Columbia man was taken into custody early Thursday morning after he allegedly broke into a home and drove away with three children, then crashed the car into a tree.

The Columbia Police Department responded to the 3000 block of Belle Meade Drive for a physical disturbance, but when officers arrived, Adrian E. Bradshaw Jr. fled the scene in a vehicle with three children.

Bradshaw damaged property while fleeing in the vehicle until he crashed into a tree, said CPD spokesman Jeff Pitts. Bradshaw tried to run away, but officers were able to catch him and take him into custody.

After an investigation, officers found that Bradshaw forced his way into the home and assaulted the victim. Officers later found a gun and meth inside of his car.

No one was hurt in the car crash.

Bradshaw is being held in the Boone County Jail on a $90,000 bond and was charged with first-degree burglary, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
