Woman hurt in Demaret Drive shooting
An 18-year-old woman was hit by gunfire early Wednesday in Boone County, though it wasn’t immediately clear how badly she was injured.
Deputies were sent to the 800 block of Demaret Drive a little before 4 a.m. and were told the woman had been taken to a hospital in a private vehicle, the Boone County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
The sheriff’s department did not release any other details, saying in the release “there is no further information available at this time.”
Deputies were visiting area hospitals after the incident to see if any gunshot wound victims were taken to the hospital. ABC 17 News crews saw at least one Boone County sheriff’s vehicle in front of the University Hospital emergency room entrance.
