Rainfall increasing tonight across Mid-MO, More rain likely this weekend

THIS AFTERNOON: Lots of cloud cover the story across Mid-Missouri this afternoon. That’s helping keep temperatures from rising too quickly this afternoon. Mid-Missouri can expect temperatures between 60-65 degrees this afternoon, depending on cloud depth (the deeper the clouds, the harder it is for the sun to warm the surface).

TONIGHT: Some spot showers are possible through the early evening, but more widespread rain chances increase late tonight as our next storm system approaches from the west. An upper trough will move through, kicking off moderate rainfall into the morning with a few embedded thunderstorms– nothing severe. Temperatures overnight will fall into the upper 40s and low 50s.

EXTENDED: Ongoing rain will continue into the morning on Thursday before tapering off by the evening. Temperatures will only make it into the low 60s with abundant cloud cover. We’re back in the middle 60s Friday, with those dry conditions sticking around. Unfortunately, it looks like we’ll be tracking our next chance of rain shortly after the first, by this weekend. Models have yet to come into an agreement, but we could see rain chances returning as early as Saturday afternoon, or holding off until late Saturday night. Regardless, it looks like temperatures in the afternoon both Saturday and Sunday will be in the low 70s. Those rain chances from the weekend look like they could spill over into Monday before coming to an end.
