Sophie Cunningham becomes first AP All-American in program history

The accolades continue to pour in for Sophie Cunningham as she is now the first ever AP All-American in Mizzou women’s basketball history.

The AP named her to the All-American third team.

Cunningham averaged 17.8 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game as a senior.

The former Rock Bridge Bruin also was named to the All-SEC regular season team and All-SEC tournament team after averaging more than 25 points per game in the conference tournament.

Cunningham finished her Mizzou career as the program’s all-time scoring leader with 2,187 career points. Cunningham also ranks first in team history in free throws made (537), second in 3-pointers made (238), third in 3-point percentage (40.3), third in free-throw percentage (83.9), fourth in points per game (17.0) and fourth in assists (390).

Cunningham will also compete in a three-point challenge during the Final Four in Minneapolis Thursday at 8:00 p.m.
