Deputies find theft suspect hiding in attic
A Columbia man was arrested and charged on Monday after he allegedly sent Boone County deputies on a chase in a stolen vehicle.
Gary C. Skaggs stole a vehicle out of Columbia, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said the car’s in-vehicle safety and security system, On Star, led them to the 1100 block of Eastland Circle around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Deputies found Skaggs hiding in an attic above the garage of a home there. Skaggs was arrested and charged with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and felony stealing.
Skaggs was being held in the Boone County jail on a $14,000 bond.
