Columbia’s Carter Lane sidewalk project begins tomorrow

Construction of a new sidewalk on Carter Lane starts Monday morning.

Columbia Public Works said crews will begin work at 7 a.m. Construction will close the northbound lane on Carter Lane and the Providence-Carter Lane connection during the day with flaggers alternating traffic in both directions.

Crews will install a 6-foot-wide sidewalk on the east side of Carter Lane from Huntridge Drive to Foxfire Drive.

The project includes building a new bus station by the Macadoodles nearby.

City spokesperson Steve Sapp said Columbia Public Works will confirm removal of two bus stops on Providence Road and reconfiguring bus routes.

The Carter Lane sidewalk project is the first of this year’s Columbia Public Works Capital Improvement Program.

The first project of this year’s slate of Columbia Public Works Capital Improvement Program projects is scheduled for construction from April 1 to May 31, weather permitting.

It’s estimated to cost $161,800 through the 2015 capital improvement sales tax ballot and Missouri Department of Transportation TAP Funding.

The sidwalk project is scheduled to finish May 31.
