Soaking rain tonight bring the potential of flash flooding

***AREAL FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS OF MID-MISSOURI UNTIL 7 AM SATURDAY***

TONIGHT: Widespread rainfall will increase through midnight as the main boundary pivots through Mid-Missouri. This will bring heavy, training rainfall along and south of I-70 where the greatest concern for flooding is. 2-3″ of additional rain is possible and the threat for road flooding, especially in low-lying areas is possible overnight. Never try to cross a flooded roadway, but the threat is even more dangerous at night–turn around, don’t drown. As the front finally starts moving out, temperatures will begin to cool off and winds will pick up out of the north, gusting near 25 mph , creating wind chills in the low to mid 30s by the morning.

TONIGHT: As the boundary continues to pull east through Saturday, morning rainfall will continue through the first half of the day. As colder air runs into ongoing precip we could see a few wet snowflakes mix in from 8-11 AM tomorrow morning. Accumulation is not expected. Showers will come to an end late in the day with clouds sticking around. Highs only rise into the mid 40s thanks to breezy northerly winds. Winds will range from 10 -16 mph with gusts to 25.

EXTENDED: Latest forecasts have the Missouri River holding steady at 26 ‘ , in the moderate flood stage, through the weekend, as runoff rainwater moves into the river’s basin. Sunshine looks to return Sunday, with temperatures pushing close to 50 in the afternoon. We start the work week with average temperatures as highs bounce back into the low to mid 60s with quiet and sunny conditions. Our next weather maker will arrive into Thursday as rain makes its way back into the forecast. Be sure to check back with ABC 17 News on-air and online for the latest forecast updates.
