Man charged in Boone County after threatening Jiffy Lube employee

Prosecutors have filed charges against a man after he was accused of threatening an employee at Jiffy Lube in Columbia.

Justin L. Thorton , 30, of Columbia, was arrested by police in central Columbia on around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to court documents obtained by ABC 17 News, Thorton threatened the worker with a knife after he was asked to leave the business on Providence Road.

The employee told investigators that he also pulled a knife to defend himself against Thorton .

Police said a knife was found on Thorton when officers located him near Stewart and Providence roads.

Thorton is charged with one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon.

A court hearing is scheduled for Thorton at 1:30 p.m. April 23.
