Motorcyclist injured in Cooper County crash

A De Soto man was injured after crashing his motorcycle early Thursday morning in Cooper County, officials said.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said it happened on Highway 5 around 3:40 a.m.

According to the crash report, Frank Togsdill, 56, failed to yield to emergency vehicles, while driving southbound. His motorcycle went off the right side of the road, struck a field entrance and overturned, the report said.

Troopers said Togsdill was wearing a non-DOT approved helmet that came off during the crash. The crash report said Togsdill was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
