Rainfall on its way back to Mid-Missouri; will aggravate Missouri River situation

THIS AFTERNOON: Winds are steady out of the southwest this morning and early afternoon and that’s helping fuel a warm up in Mid-Missouri. Temperatures will top out in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees in many spots. Clouds continue to increase ahead of our next system.

TONIGHT: A front will be approaching the area after 9pm, which could spark a shower or thunderstorm into the early morning hours, but the best chance looks further northeast. With clouds moving in, temperatures only drop into the low to mid 50s.

EXTENDED: More widespread rain moves in during the daytime on Thursday. Steady, moderate rain showers can be expected through much of the evening Thursday, lasting into the day Friday. A few rumbles of thunder are expected Friday and the heaviest rainfall amounts look to be north of I-70 when this system wraps up late Saturday morning. Areawide, 1-2″ of rain can be expected. Rivers, which are already swollen in Mid-Missouri will hold steady at their minor to moderate flood stage, likely beginning to rise again into next as upstream waters continue to filter in. Temperatures cool down this weekend, only topping out in the mid to upper 40s, but recover near 60 by Monday.
