Southwest winds “torch” Mid-Mo Wednesday, Rainfall returns by Thursday

THIS AFTERNOON: Lots of sunshine will continue this afternoon with temperatures slowly but surely climbing into the low-to-mid 50s across our area. Winds will remain out of the east-northeast light, up 5 mph. It’s a good day to get out and enjoy the early spring weather.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear skies will let us cool off again tonight. Lows will bottom out in the mid 30s, not as cold… winds begin to shift out of the south overnight.

EXTENDED: Winds will continue the turn out of the south and southwest on Wednesday. This will help temperatures push close 70 degrees on Wednesday, under partly cloudy skies. We haven’t hit 70 degrees since October 30. It will certainly feel very warm tomorrow. That beautiful weather will only be around for the afternoon, as our next chance of rain is moving in late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. A cold front moves through the region initially, but we’ll be tracking multiple opportunities for rain through Saturday. With swollen waterways already in place, flooding could become an issue this weekend after 1-2″ of rain falls, with the highest amounts north of I-70.
