Moniteau County deputy struck by vehicle

UPDATE 5:50 p.m.: Deputy Jason Partin , 45, of California and Carolyn Devore , 80, of Iberia have both been discharged from the hospital, after suffering moderate injuries in the crash.

ORIGINAL: The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the deputy struck by a car Thursday night as Jason Partin , 45, of California.

The crash report said Partin was conducting a traffic stop around 8:15 p.m. on Highway 5 near Short Road when Partin and his vehicle were struck by a passing car driven by Norman Devore , 85, of Iberia.

According to the crash report, the impact of the collision caused Partin’s vehicle to strike the vehicle he had pulled over.

The Highway Patrol said Partin was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

The passenger in the passing car that struck the deputy, Carolyn Devore , 80, of Iberia, was also taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, troopers said.

The woman in the vehicle that was pulled over, Janyale Goetz, 41, of Montrose, was not injured, but her vehicle sustained minor damage, according to the report.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Highway Patrol.

ORIGINAL: A Moniteau County deputy was injured after being struck by a vehicle Thursday night.

Moniteau County 911 Director Kevin Wieberg confirmed a deputy was struck on Highway 5 just outside of Fortuna.

Wieberg said the deputy’s injuries were non-life threatening, but the deputy went to the hospital.

Sgt. Scott White with the Missouri State Highway Patrol said preliminary information indicates the deputy was conducting a traffic stop outside his vehicle when he was struck by a passing vehicle.

White said the deputy was communicating with dispatchers and other officers after the incident.

A second person was also transported to a local hospital.
