Mizzou to face Iowa in second round of NCAA Tournament

The No. 7 Mizzou women’s basketball team will face No. 2 Iowa on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers are coming off a 77-76 overtime win over Drake in the opening round. Meanwhile, Iowa beat Mercer 66-61 in its first round matchup. Mizzou women’s basketball coach Robin Pingeton will face her former head coach, Lisa Bluder . Pingeton played for Bluder at St. Ambrose University. She also was an assistant for Bluder at Drake.

Iowa is led by the espnW player of the year, Megan Gustafson. The senior forward is averaging 28.1 points and 13.3 rebounds per game.

Mizzou is searching for its first trip to the Sweet 16 since 2001. Seniors Sophie Cunningham and Cierra Porter can become the first MU players to win four NCAA Tournament games.
