Crash causes power outage in Jefferson City

Several Ameren customers were without power Friday night after a vehicle struck a pad-mounted transformer on Candlelight Drive in Jefferson City.

Jefferson City police said a juvenile drove a vehicle into the box and then left the scene. Officers said they stopped the vehicle a short distance later and detained the juvenile.

Ameren’s outage map showed 35 customers without power in the area where the crash occurred.

Ameren estimated power would be restored by 8:30 p.m.
