Police find evidence of shots in central Columbia
Police blocked off a central Columbia street Monday morning after shell casings were found.
Columbia Police Department officers closed Monroe Street just off Old 63 while they investigated an early Sunday shots-fired call. Police said there was a call at about 1:50 a.m. Sunday of multiple shots fired in the location, an officer at the scene said.
Police were sent againt to the scene a little before 10:30 a.m. Monday, CPD spokesman Jeff Pitts said.
Officers found at least 12 shell casings and a fragmented bullet at the scene
An officer on the scene said they were responding after someone reported this morning that a bullet struck their car in the same location early Sunday morning.
Police left the scene today around 12:30 p.m. No suspects had been identified at that time.
