Police: Drunk, naked man arrested for trying to start fights

Police arrested a Columbia man early Sunday morning after they said he was drunkenly trying to start fights in downtown Columbia while naked.

The Columbia Police Department responded to the intersection of East Broadway and North 8th Street after 2 a.m. Sunday in response to a person trying to start fights with people. When police arrived, Alexander C. Wells had removed all of his clothes and was still trying to fight people, said CPD spokesman Jeff Pitts.

Wells advanced toward officers, and officers were able to detain him, Pitts said.

Wells was taken to the Boone County Jail on a $1,000 bond.
