Mizzou gets seven seed in NCAA Tournament
The Mizzou women’s basketball team is a seven seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. The Tigers will play 10-seeded Drake in the opening round on Friday at 3 p.m. in Iowa City, Iowa.
The Tigers finished the season 23-10 overall and 10-6 in the SEC. Mizzou most recently lost to Mississippi State in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament on March 9.
Drake is 27-6 on the season. The Bulldogs were 17-1 in conference play. They ultimately lost in the Missouri Valley Conference championship game to Missouri State.
Drake is led by Eldon native Sara Rhine. The junior is averaging 18 points and eight rebounds per game for the Bulldogs.
If Mizzou beats Drake, the Tigers will play the winner of two-seed Iowa and 15-seed Mercer on Sunday.
* Mizzou was scheduled to host a watch party at 6 p.m., but ESPN inadvertently posted the bracket early. The Tigers will still hold an event at the Columns Club (Memorial Stadium) at 6 p.m. for the public to attend.
