Deputies say inmate who escaped jail is back in mid-Missouri

A man accused of escaping the Pettis County Jail is believed to be back in mid-Missouri.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies recovered a truck stolen from Heavener, Oklahoma, near Clifton City, Missouri, in northeastern Pettis County early Monday.

Deputies said Travis Davis, 30, was arrested in Heavener last week but escaped after he was able to steal and crash a police car.

Davis was reported missing from the Pettis County jail March 10

The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office said deputies weren’t able to find Davis after searching for him on Monday.

Prosecutors have charged Davis with kidnapping, first-degree domestic assault, endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest following a standoff in Sedalia in February.

Davis is also charged with escaping from confinement.

According to the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office, Davis is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about Davis is asked to call the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office at 660-827-0052.
