Historic storm brings strong winds to Mid-Missouri today, Clearing out for St. Patty’s Day

THIS AFTERNOON: Winds continue to be a factor across the viewing area today as clouds have built in and temperatures remain in the mid-40s. It will be a chilly day due to the windy conditions. Winds will slowly relax through the late evening hours, however some stronger gusts up to 40-50 mph are possible through 7 pm.

TONIGHT: As this strong system moves to our northeast, remnant moisture looks to rotate around the western side and into Mid-Missouri this evening. This will lead to a chance at some light sprinkles to showers and a snowflake or two mixing in overnight as temperatures drop into the low 30s. Winds will still be breezy, but out of a northwest direction.

EXTENDED: Friday will be cooler in the wake of this system with temperatures in the low to mid 40s for afternoon highs. We’ll start the day out with mostly cloudy skies but sunshine looks to return to close out the day before setting. Sunshine continues into this weekend, as temperatures rebound near 50 on Saturday and in the middle 50s for St. Patrick’s Day, a fantastic weekend to get out and around. Nice to see considering it seems like we’ve had some sort of weather event every weekend this month. A good portion of next week looks quiet, with a slight warming trend.
